How long are the treatment sessions?

Treatment sessions are 45 minutes in length, with 35 minutes dedicated to direct therapy and 10 minutes reserved for feedback and documentation. We are happy to offer adjusted times for special circumstances. Please talk to your treating therapist for changes to therapy times.

How long are the evaluations?

Your first session at GTC will be an evaluation. Evaluations can range from 45 minutes in length or 90 minutes in length, depending on your needs and goals. Your first appointment type and length will be determined by our clinicians during your intake process. If at any point you have questions about the evaluation process you can ask one of our therapists at info@grandboistherapy.com

What can I expect during our first treatment session?

Your first treatment session will focus on fun, games, and building rapport with your client. Our goal for the first few sessions of treatment is to create a trusting and enjoyable experience for our clients. As your therapist gets to know your child they will gradually build in therapeutic tasks to work towards your goals.

Am I expected to be part of my child’s therapy?

We always encourage parent involvement. That being said, there may be instances where being present during your child’s therapy session may not be necessary. If you are curious about your role in therapy please talk to your treating therapist. If you are new to the practice you can also discuss this during our intake. We do ask that parents remain on site or the duration of therapy.

Can I drop off my child and return when therapy is finished?

Unfortunately we ask that all parents remain on the premises during therapy. Because parent involvement can be a critical piece of successful therapy we require all parents to be in the therapy room or in the waiting room for the duration of therapy.
